Whom do you fear?

As the disciples were sent out to minister to the communities around them, Jesus understood the weakness of man when it comes to others around.

Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Jesus instructed his disciples that as they ministered that they would be hated, persecuted, run out of the very communities that they were trying to help. With this understanding, they were to focus on the task that God had given them to do. They were to speak the truth that God had given to them without the fear of man.

Matthew 10:26,28
Fear them not . . . And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

God would give them the words to speak . . . take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak . . . what I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in the light . . . Matthew 10:19, 27

God would take care of them . . . Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

The next time that Satan tempts you to fear man, bury your thoughts in the goodness of God. He is the one that we need to please. As we seek to honor, glorify, and please our Heavenly Father, He will guide our words and will take care of us.
